Indian Air Force appoints women pilot trainees in the pay scale of Rs. 8250-300-10,050 depending upon the rank attained. A Stipend of Rs. 8000/- p.m. during training. Carry home salary is approx. Rs. 16,498/-p.m. (inclusiveof Dearness Allowance and Flying pay). In addition to that other facilities are also provided as per Central Government rules.

Eligibility: BSc with Physics and/or Maths or 4 year BE course. (Those likely to qualify for degree by 31 Dec. can also apply). Age between 18 yrs and 22 yrs (relaxable up to 2 yrs for those having Commercial Pilot Licence). Unmarried, Widows (without any child) of service personnel killed on duty can also apply. Medically fit for Flying Branch. Minimum Height 162.5 cm. Leg length between 99 and 120 cm., should not be colour/night blind or wearing glasses. Should not have failed in Pilot Aptitude Battery Test. Candidates holding Senior Division Air Wing C Certificate are to apply through respective Air Squadron. Clause of Physics and Maths at 10+2 level is not applicable for them.

Selection is made through Pilot Aptitude Battery Test. Only those who pass the test are called for Personality Test (Psychological Test, Group Test and Interview) spread over 4-6 days at one of the Air Force Selection Boards located at Dehradun, Mysore and Varanasi.

The engagement period is for 10 years from the date of Commission. Grant of permanent Commission would be considered during the last one year of service, subject to service requirements. An extension of 5 years of SSC may also be granted to the deserving officers. Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) is given only once in a lifetime. Those failing to make the grade in PABT are screened out on the first day and routed home. Candidates failing to learn flying are suspended from flying training and are not eligible for absorption in any other branch of IAF and without SSB Test. Only short-listed applications are called for SSB test. No communication is entertained for reasons of short¬listing.
